The Judiciate is the governmental body of the Ethuveraz responsible for interpreting and applying the law.

Details[]

The Judiciate is one of the three main bodies of civil government in the Ethuveraz (the others being the Parliament and the Corazhas). The concordat is a "half cease-fire, half alliance" that is maintained between these three bodies.[1]

The Judiciate is composed of Witnesses and judiciars, each working within a precise geographical jurisdiction. Cases that cross jurisdictional borders have historically caused political problems within the Judiciate: in the case of the wreck of the Wisdom of Choharo, this was solved by involving witnesses from multiple jurisdictions in the investigation.[2]

The organizational body of the Judiciate is located in the Untheileneise Court.[3] Other judiciary bodies are possibly housed in the central governmental buildings of principalities, such as the Amaleise Judiciary, which is housed in the Amal'theileian.[4]

Roles in the Judiciate[]

  • Judiciars hear and decide cases[5]
  • Judicial Witnesses gather evidence and/or represent the interests of persons, places, or things[2]
  • The Witness for the Judiciate represents the Judiciate in the Corazhas
  • Members of the Judiciate guard operate autonomously from other Ethuverazhid military forces, and are responsible for guarding prisoners in the Nevennamire[6]
