Details[]

Ezho was founded in the gold rush during the reign of either Varenechibel III or Varevesena.[1]

Ezho is south of Daiano, and southeast of Vorenzhessar (which is older than Ezho).[2][3] The Istandaärtha meets the Evresartha at Ezho.[2]

Ezho engages in water trade with Cairado by sending barges along the Istandaärtha.[4][5]

The Pilgrimage of Stairs, or the Unfinished Pilgrimage, is in Ezho.[6] It is a staircase that winds about halfway up Mount Kezrinin and stops abruptly because the man who was carving the stairs died before he reached the top, and no one has been called to finish it. It is sacred to Cstheio.

It is said that man-eating ogres live in the mountains above Ezho.[7]

During the reign of Maia Drazhar, “the Istandaärtha froze solid below Ezho for the first time in living memory.”[8]

Some Witnesses for the Dead are sent to train in Ezho.[6]

Trivia[]

  • The glossary of The Goblin Emperor states that Ezho was “founded in the gold rush of Varenechibel III’s reign”.[2] During Maia's dinner with the goblin ambassador from Barizhan, Vorzhis Gormened, the narrator notes “the gold rush in Maia’s grandfather’s day, the founding of Ezho”.[1] As Maru Sevraseched is Maia's maternal goblin grandfather, this is possibly awkwardly referencing Maru (seemingly implying he was currently dead/no longer ruling, which was untrue, and also out of place, given Ezho is in the Ethuveraz, not Barizhan), but Maia's paternal elven grandfather was Varevesena (who was dead at this point), while Varenechibel III was Maia's great-grandfather (also dead), so it's unclear who is being referenced, or if this is a typo.
  • Cataro Selezhen lied to Dothora Kelberened that Lora Selezh's father was a caravan guard from Ezho.[9]
